Make America God’s Again: Day 38 of 40

This day in the journey is set aside to look at the memorial stones or the significant times when God has supernaturally provided for you.

When there seemed to be no way across, God stopped the flow of the Jordan River. The people were able to walk to the other side on dry ground. He told them to set up memorial stones as a reminder.

“Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.” (Joshua 4:5b-7 NIV)

Have you written down the successes that God ordained in your life?  These are particularly helpful on the days when you feel alone, abandoned, or powerless. You can recall those memorial moments and be energized with hope when desperation and defeat try to prevail. You can be reminded of those times when everything seemed impossible until God opened a door that you weren’t expecting.  He provided a way to manage the challenges that seemed too big or too burdensome.  You thought it couldn’t be done — yet, here you are, standing firm on the other side of that thing.

When the young shepherd boy, David was preparing to stand against the Philistine giant, he remembered the Lord’s provision in fighting off lions and bears. That memory gave him inspiration and courage to boldly go into battle where others cowardly refused. What is going to help you overcome obstacles and fears going forward? Take inventory of your successes! It’s part of your equipping.

“‘The LORD who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.’ Saul said to David, ‘Go, and the LORD be with you.’” (1 Samuel 17:37 NIV)
