Watering the Weeds?

With the heat like it is during the day, I’ve been going out to the garden just after sunrise. Pulling weeds is a real nuisance, but necessary for healthy plants. I’ve noticed one thing about weeds: they have weak roots. Even weeds with flowers can be pulled up rather easily. This morning, I did pruning to cut off parts of the plants growing in the wrong direction or taking too much resources from the parts I want to grow.

My daughter and I have invested ourselves in making a patio garden. We have a few vegetable/fruit plants but mostly we have pretty flowers and greenery. I love walking outside and seeing new blooms on the rose, Bougainvillea, and gardenia bushes. I get excited seeing new leaves sprout on the vines too. But there are always the pesky little bugs, lizards, and predators that want to have their way in my little oasis. There is one lizard that seems to take pleasure in greeting me every day. I intentionally splash water on him — I think he likes it. I don’t know.

I can see why there are so many gardening terms used in the Bible. I like that there is a Master Gardener overseeing things. I find comfort in knowing that He’s my caretaker. I probably need to have a talk with Him about the flirtatious lizard in the garden.
