United In Unbelief

Locally, there was (maybe still is) a pastors coalition that united the false doctrines of the local churches under one umbrella. They met regularly to hold hands in a feigned unity of prayer despite that most of them don’t know who God is nor do they believe that God has the power to speak to those speaking to Him. Before you think that I’m being too rough on those pastors, let’s talk about their failure to unite under Truth.

If they weren’t such a cowardly band of associates, wouldn’t they want to discuss who is teaching correctly and who isn’t. They all interpret the same Bible vastly different on nearly every topic. Why would that happen if they are united in prayer? It’s because their prayers are one-sided to a God that they believe lives in the pages of a book. Their religion is not that much different than the false religions that bow down to mute idols. Their book is essentially a statue that they lord themselves over. So if a pastor wants to interpret the book differently well he’s allowed to since he’s the lord over the book at their church. Church members are forsaken if they question the authority of the mini-god over the false interpretations of the book. The Catholic churches have a slightly different book than the Christian churches. Evidently, their book allows them to pray to saints and to Mary. The Mormon churches have a different book. Jehovah Witnesses, a different book. Islam has a different book too. All of those interpretations of books allow for a disconnect from the God of the covenant.

If the pastors’ coalition were really united in prayer conversations that included hearing from God, who is not a book, they would interpret the Scriptures exactly the same. Wouldn’t they? But if they leave God out of the equation, they each get to be right and nobody has to acknowledge their wrong teaching – even though they know that they all teach differently. How can they all be right? Obviously, they can’t. But they can all lord themselves over a book that is mute.

They will point to that book as all authority, however, the great commission starts out saying that Jesus has all authority. So this gets me right where I wanted to be today. Let’s talk about Jesus. First, Jesus is not a book. The word that became flesh is not the Bible pages becoming flesh. The word is the voice of the creator from Genesis, chapter 1. The book of John begins like the book of Genesis … in the beginning “God created” and in the beginning “was the word”. The word that became flesh was the creation voice of God, not a book that suddenly turned to flesh. I’m shaking my head here because some of you think that I’m being too simple with this explanation but you don’t know how many times I’ve heard people refer to their Bible as the Word of God. The Bible has recorded words from God surely, but it also has recorded words from pagan kings, Pharisees, fishermen, tax collectors, and the devil, demons, and evil spirits. It’s a book people. It’s not God. God is God. But as long as you have a book that you can hold in your hands then you have the right to lord yourselves over the interpretation of it. (That last part was aimed at the false teachers.)

Let’s talk again about who Jesus is. Jesus is the Spirit of God who spoke the world into being. More than 2,000 years ago, Jesus as the Spirit of God, walked on earth with skin on. That flesh-suit was a temporary visible covering for the eternal invisible Spirit of God. Once the flesh had served its purpose at the cross, the Spirit no longer needed the temporary visible form. Figuratively, the flesh sat down next to the Spirit in heaven. I say figuratively, because there are no flesh-and-blood beings in heaven. Heaven is a spiritual realm, not a physical realm. But please understand, those false teachers will misinterpret that figurative language every time. How hard would it be to ask the Spirit of God? Oh no, they couldn’t do that because then their own self-appointed lordship would need to end.

Jesus said: “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father.” (John 16:25 NIV)

So if there are any of those coalition pastors reading this, why don’t you examine each other’s doctrines and question the motives? Is it because, you don’t have the courage that I do? Or is it because you enjoy the unity of unbelief?

Attached are two pages from The Rogue Prophet Magazine, “The Covenant Voice of God”, dated August, 2024 (pages 8 and 15). My hope is that seeing these two pages side by side will help with the idea that there is a spiritual realm (spirit) and a physical realm (flesh). The physical form of “Son of God/Son of Man” was the flesh covering that the Spirit of God wore as He walked visibly on planet Earth. There is only one Spirit of God, also known as the Holy Spirit. One God, not three.
