Apostle & Prophet

In my early morning quiet time with the Lord, He said that He is designating me as Apostle & Prophet. I have no idea what that means. I’m quite content being His prophet and I don’t need a title to know my worth.

When I asked the Lord if this new title was going to change my day to day walk with Him, He said that it would. That’s a little worrisome. I’m not sure that I want things to change. I hear God every day, all day long. I have experienced every miraculous gift of the Spirit. I have a good understanding of spiritual warfare. Why does there need to be a change?

Well, He is God. I guess He knows what He’s doing. 😉 If I start acting weirder than usual, it’s all because of this new title.

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.” (Ephesians 2:19-20 NIV)

“Because of this, God in his wisdom said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’” (Luke 11:49 NIV) …. (By the way, I don’t like the sound of that.)

“I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.” (2 Peter 3:2 NIV)

“Rejoice over her, you heavens! Rejoice, you people of God! Rejoice, apostles and prophets! For God has judged her with the judgment she imposed on you.” (Revelation 18:20 NIV)

Pray Your Own Prayers

It’s more important that you form your own relationship with God in prayer than for me to pray on your behalf. Delegating that right and responsibility to someone else is the reason that God doesn’t entrust you with much.

Don’t ask me to pray for you. Humble yourself under God’s authority and be willing to obey. I can’t do that for you even if I wanted to … which I don’t. I’ve got my hands full trying my best to follow God and do His will. When He sends me to help you, I will do exactly that. When He tells me to back off, that’s what I will do.

With all that said, help me to stay out of the way of what God is doing in your life by keeping your prayers between you and God. It’s not that I don’t care but I can assure you that God knows what you need better than you or I could ever know.

If you want 50 prayer warriors praying on your behalf, then that’s up to you. I have told you the truth when I have said that you are SOLELY responsible for the relationship between you and God. If God would take the advice of 50 praying people, then God would not be very wise. But He is wise, so there’s that!

You Are Forced to Participate (October 3, 2025)

On the first two days of October, we have talked about the covenant relationship, how to restore a broken covenant, and how the covenant position relates to God’s protection. Over these next few days we will review the spiritual battle. Spiritual warfare is done in the spiritual realm. The devil has a spiritual voice and he is a liar.

Being successful in the spiritual battle starts with understanding that there is a real war. But I don’t want you to believe me. I want you to study this matter from a Biblical stance. So let’s look at a few Scriptures to begin this journey.

“You shall not bow down to them or worship them …” (Exodos 20:5 NIV)

Spiritual warfare finds its way to our doorsteps when we bow down to or worship false gods. That is a very broad statement. Perhaps it would be simpler to say that we should only worship God and choose Him when temptation is presented. We should not allow a parent, sibling, spouse, pastor, or friend to tell us what we are uniquely responsible to hear from God.

This passage can provide insight:

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11 NIV)
“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.”
“The tempter came to him and said, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.’ Jesus answered, ‘It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’
“Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. ‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down. For it is written:’ ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’
“Jesus answered him, ‘It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’
“Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. ‘All this I will give you,’ he said, ‘if you will bow down and worship me.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’
“Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.”

What insight do you get from this recorded exchange between God (in flesh) and Satan? Just like Satan didn’t know who Jesus is, he doesn’t know who you are to God or your destiny purpose. However, he might suspect that you are worth targeting. How does this passage instruct you?

The Impact of Sin (October 2, 2025)

All sin impacts our personal relationship with God. But not all trials are a result of sin.

There is a bogus theology that makes its rounds in the churches. That doctrine has very harmful effects while sounding full of grace. Have you ever heard a pastor say words that imply that all sin is automatically forgiven because of the cross? Listen, NO sin is automatically forgiven. All sin requires a sincere forgiveness conversation with God and a heart desire to be right with God.

Without true repentance, the covenant relationship is broken. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross provided direct access to God (without a priest or a blood sacrifice) to have a covenant restoration conversation with God. You don’t need to be in a temple with a priest residing over the conversation. It should be only you going before God to resolve any issues in the relationship. God will meet you at your level of understanding when you have the right heart.

Because God came in flesh and went to the cross, you can go directly to God in prayer and have a private apology session. It shouldn’t be “I’m sorry for everything”, but instead you should ask God where you have failed Him and listen to His answer. Have as much conversation with Him until you are sure the covenant relationship is restored. Without restored covenant, you will not hear God’s voice to lead you. Without restored covenant, God is not obligated to protect you in the spiritual war. Without covenant God does not have to provide for you as He would while you’re in covenant fellowship with Him.

You can choose to ignore your sin life and pretend that you are automatically forgiven, but that will result in loss of fellowship with the Lord. You will find yourself unanointed, undirected, and full of regret while you try to hide your sins from yourself and God.

To restore the broken covenant, you must have a sincere forgiveness conversation with God and turn away from areas of sin.

Oh one final note. Don’t let anyone else determine what your sin is. God is the one who is the judge. He will tell you if something is sinful or not. The church has been historically wrong about what qualifies as sin. Let God be your judge.

The Absence of Peace (October 1, 2025)

Even in our greatest struggles, we can find peace, contentment, and resolve in the shelter of the Almighty. However, we are not guaranteed that comfort outside of unbroken covenant relationship with God.

One of my favorite bedtime routines is to select a YouTube ambience video of falling rain, lullaby piano music, gentle snowfall on a forest lane, or ocean sounds in a beachside cabin to quiet the noise of the day. No peace would be found, though, without God’s presence with me. So let me ask. Do you have peace with the Lord?

As promised in an earlier post, throughout the month of October, I will write about spiritual warfare and deliverance. Each day will build on the subject, but let’s start with a critical component … the covenant relationship.

The covenant is an oath or a contract. The two parties to the contract can void the contract by breaking the oath or the terms that it contains. In the case of the covenant with God, He promises to be our God (and all that involves) IF we promise for Him to be our God. All is well as long as the covenant is unbroken. God will protect us from the spiritual forces of evil. God will provide peace in our trials. God will be Lord when we intentionally choose Him in that seat of honor.

The problems arise when we breach the contract by putting someone or something else on the throne of our lives. Choosing to ignore God or to seek a counterfeit “god” is called “sin”. (Satan gets IN.) You need look no further than the third chapter of Genesis in the Bible to get a thorough glimpse of how quickly the covenant with God can be broken through falling to temptation.

I maintain that one cannot be in a true covenant relationship with God without hearing His voice in prayer. How can anyone obey God without knowing what He wants for each one personally? God never intended for a best-guess relationship. He wants to give us exact step-by-step leading that only He can give to direct us in the destiny calling over our lives.

If we are not following Him, then we are not in covenant with Him. He has no obligation to protect us or our family line without unbroken covenant relationship. Because of His grace, He can choose to withhold the enemy’s reach to certain boundaries, but He doesn’t have to. If you have chosen a counterfeit authority, then you have chosen the consequences of having a false god. Tomorrow, we will talk about restoring a broken covenant relationship. God has made it easy, but it is necessary.

What questions do you have about the covenant relationship? I want to address them because all spiritual conflict exists in the absence of peace outside of covenant relationship with God.

The Devil Can Quote Scripture

Overnight, I had a dream in which an enemy was quoting Scripture to me in an attempt to manipulate me away from doing the will of God. The man doing the devil’s bidding was quoting me this passage.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV)

Why would the devil use a love passage to dishonor God’s heart? In the dream, it was being used in an attempt to silence my voice against the false doctrines and false teachers. It was as if the enemy was saying that I wasn’t very loving if I dared to speak out against wrongs and injustices. In other words, a loving person would remain silent and do her best to get along.

Of course, I asked God why He gave me that dream. He said that I should recognize the enemy’s schemes because it is a technique that pastors who are intimidated by me will use to try to make me look bad. Then God and I had discussions about the many Scriptures that recorded Jesus’ justified anger against the Pharisees. Matthew 23 contains some pretty hot words against the teachers of the law. Jesus overturned tables of the money changers in the temple courts. And of course, the devil tried to manipulate Jesus (God while in human flesh) with the words “It is written…”

“‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ ” (Matthew 4:6 NIV)

So, enemy, if you’re reading this, I’m not impressed with your ability to manipulate Scriptures against God’s heart. God sees it and hates it. I’m on to you.

Train a Child …

All these years later, I can’t imagine not hearing the Lord’s voice first thing every morning and last thing every night. I would be lost and devastated.

But for the first 40 years of my life, I didn’t hear the Lord speak to me. I grew up in the church. I was trained to read the Bible and serve. I memorized Scriptures. I’m sure that I did everything expected of me to be a good citizen of the church. I prayed like nobody else. I gave God so much advice because that was all that was ever modeled. But I did not hear God or walk with Him (and neither did any of the other churchgoers to my knowledge).

At 40 years old, a friend told me to give God five minutes and listen to Him in prayer. That’s when everything changed.

Oh wow how it changed! The God that I had learned about and had a one-sided relationship with was actually real. I couldn’t get enough of hearing Him. Every chance I got I wanted to hear His voice. Hearing Him changed me into a completely different person and maybe too quickly for those around me who didn’t similarly hear Him.

But I want you to hear this from my heart. I was so completely grieved that for the first 40 years of my life, though spent growing up in the church, nobody ever said the simple words “go give God five minutes and listen to Him”. Why? And yes, I read the Bible so I should have known that God speaks. But I trusted the church leaders to train me in the most important parts of knowing God. But they didn’t. Their unspoken words were a catalyst to assuming wrong theology.

Now, nearly 23 years after hearing God speak that first time, I walk with the Spirit of God every day. So much so, that He talked to me about this subject first thing as I was waking this morning. He reminded me of why it is so important to keep telling others about hearing His voice. I’ve written workbooks, newsletters, magazines and thousands of posts about hearing God. I’ve made teaching videos. I really have spent all these years fighting for the hearts and minds of those God has entrusted me to speak a word to.

During my conversation with God this morning, I asked God (probably with His invisible prompting) what is the right age to start teaching a child to hear God’s voice. His answer was that they should always be aware that God speaks. I questioned God about the maturity needed to recognize God’s voice against the voice of the enemy. God said to trust Him with that. I reasoned that they could hear the devil at any age why not teach them to hear God and discern His voice from the beginning. Our young children belong to God if we belong to God. They are under a protective covering while they are being raised to know God. Once they are mature, they have their own responsibility to know the heart of God and to obey Him.

Though I was raised in the church, there wasn’t much mention of God in my home growing up. I was a Sunday-go-to-church Christian. Most of the time, I went to church on the church bus without my parents or siblings. God was always calling me to Himself even when I didn’t knowingly hear Him. He drew me in. He entrusted the churches to teach me. And though they didn’t do the best job at educating me on walking with the Spirit, they planted seeds and provided community. I want so much more than that for the next generation. I hope you do too.

You Will Not Be Held Guiltless

It’s 1:00 am on Sunday, and this is the message that God wants delivered through His prophet. After the warning, there will be deliverance instructions to help you.

“You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.” (Exodus 20:7 NIV)

Please listen to me. QUIT using the Lord’s name as swear words. I hear it all the time and it hurts in my spirit. This culture is so skewed when some will use the Lord’s name in such a derogatory manner. There is no need to provide examples, you know exactly what I’m talking about. So quit it! God has no problem bringing His punishment against you.

I’m asking you to read the Scripture above in context so you see just how serious God is about this warning. God even promises to punish your children. How anyone can be so flippant about this subject just floors me.

Another way that you can misuse God’s name is to say that a “word” is from the Lord that isn’t. That’s going to land you in some serious problems. For example, sometime last year, a guy who was a known conspiracy theorist tried to convince me that the earth is flat. I rolled my eyes and turned away from him. That’s when he said “God wants you to know that the earth is flat.” Oh please, that is the same guy that previously said that God doesn’t speak. Then suddenly he is assigned to tell me a message from the God that I’ve been hearing everyday for more than 20+ years? I don’t think so! (You know that I can ask Him anything.) God is not going to put up with using His name to sell your bogus ideas.

Ok so that’s the warning. Now, let’s look at a solution.

1) First, stop doing it! Resolve to honor God with better language and honesty.

2) Then, ask God for forgiveness. Be specific.

3) Ask God to help you do better by providing a specific consequence for bad behavior. This will help you to realize the behavior more obviously. You will probably want to separate yourself from others that engage in that bad behavior too. (Note: If you love them enough, you will want to warn them like I have warned you.)

4) After you have had a sincere forgiveness conversation with God about everything (yes, I said everything), then listen to God’s instructions and follow Him.

You’ve been warned so you have no right to pretend not to know.

Is Jesus the Head of Your Household?

Mainstream religion has so distorted the intent of God’s heart by misinterpreting certain Scripture passages.

I would like to use this post to debate a wrong, long-held belief that men are intended to be the head of the household in Christian families. I maintain, very confidently, that God is the head of the household of families that submit to Him, and that husbands and wives should be partners in marriage.

In my mother’s generation, women often allowed men a pretend leadership. It was a way of getting otherwise irresponsible men to act responsibly. But please understand me, that whole scenario was manipulation and often had an undertone of plotting and scheming behind husbands’ backs. It allowed women to be lazy in their faith and to refuse submitting directly to God.

The Biblical text (Ephesians 5:23) that is often misinterpreted was written by the same writer as “slaves obey your masters” and was just 17 verses later (Ephesians 6:5). Clearly, the passages were written in a different cultural climate when human slavery was acceptable and when women were intentionally kept illiterate. Women were not allowed to learn to read and write, but were instead delegated to raising children, menial tasks, and household chores.

If we read the Bible in full context, we can see that God used women in mighty ways to save nations, change hearts, and birth revival. There were women prophets, judges, deliverers, apostles, and deacons. Women founded churches and evangelized. Women taught men about Jesus. So knowing all that, how can one take a single, highly misinterpreted Scripture, out of context to divide men and women in pursuit of God’s heart for the family and ministry?

A family should be a partnership of seeking God and knowing Him. God should have the only lordship in a Christian home. Yes, mothers and fathers should have authority over children while they teach them to know God and raise them to be good citizens. But at an appropriate age or maturity, children need to be responsible to God without a parent’s leading. Healthy marriages depend on both parties knowing God and following His lead.

Listen, if anyone would intentionally misrepresent Scripture against God’s heart, God knows about it. Those are the churches where the congregants and the pastors have no Holy Spirit anointing. If you sit in a church pew with false teaching, you are complicit and will be disciplined or punished accordingly. God is NOT required to make things easy for you.

I’m eager to debate this topic. Public commenting is left open for any sincere debate. However, I will not tolerate comments that devalue me because it ultimately dishonors those that I love by association.

Heir To The Throne (Day 5 of 5)

After posting yesterday’s commentary and study, something became vividly clear to me that I hope to express here. It’s not unusual for me to learn the most while teaching because I consider the study material differently when I bring it forward for others. I examine it more closely but also in the big picture context.

During the thousands of years that God oversaw the building of the Jewish nation before making Himself known in flesh, the people always seemed to be drawn to idol worship. They proved themselves as idol worshippers when they created a golden calf to bow down to rather than the God of the covenant. They wanted a “god” that they could see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and touch with their hands.

They also wanted a set apart place where they could be religious for a little while expecting that they could refuse God when they weren’t in the temple. Their worship of idols and counterfeit gods led them to heinous acts including burning their children in the fire which greatly grieved the heart of God. The devil had succeeded in blinding them to truth. They could not appease God by religious acts then, and we can’t now. God wants prayer connection that can only happen by hearing His voice.

John 8:47 NIV: “Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’ He said, ‘Go and tell this people: ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed. Then I said, ‘For how long, Lord?’ And he answered: ‘Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged, until the LORD has sent everyone far away and the land is utterly forsaken. And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.’” (Isaiah 6:8-13 NIV)

When God made Himself known in flesh, He gave them what they wanted: a God that they could see, hear, and touch. He dwelled in a flesh temple. And still they absolutely didn’t know who He was. I can say that with the ultimate confidence because they crucified Him on a cross with the help of the religious leaders. Many of the religious leaders today think there is a second God sitting next to the Father in Heaven. Their trinity theology, of three Gods, shows their ignorance. Today, many worship their Bibles, their pastors, their church platforms, religious emblems or brands. They don’t know God or recognize Him.

John 1:10 NIV: “He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.”

Today, if you hear the Lord’s voice and recognize Him in the spiritual realm, you don’t need an earthly priest, an atonement sacrifice, or a brick and mortar temple. You can have a blessed relationship with God that others have rejected for idols made by human hands. If you know Him, you know His name is Jesus. He is the Father who made Himself known in Son of Man flesh. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. There is no other.

John 10:5 NIV: “But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
