The Prophet’s Gift of Sarcasm

When I hear a pastor teaching nonsense and purposely distorting what the Scriptures teach, I always ask God about their motives.

Recently a pastor preached that God’s prophets are not true prophets if they’re not submitted to a church authority. I asked God why the pastor purposely brought that false doctrine. God said that the pastor is jealous of my giftings and wants to dissuade people from believing that I’m God’s prophet, apostle and deliverance minister. Do you think he’s jealous? God says he is.

To the pastor: There is absolutely NOTHING in the (Old Testament or New Testament) Scriptures that says that a prophet must be under the authority of a church body. No matter how much you want to twist the texts of the Bible, you are wrong. But perhaps, you’re counting on the laziness of your churchgoers to check the Scriptures for themselves. (Because let’s face it, you believe your congregants are actually more stupid than you are.)

But for the anointed true Christ follower all they would have to do is have a simple conversation with God and listen to His answer. Because we are supposed to hear God, right? (Can you hear the sarcasm in my words?) So, who is up for the challenge? All you would need to do is simply ask God. “God, is Tammie Edwards your prophet?” Or you could ask “God, do your prophets need to be a member of a church that teaches false doctrine in order to be under your authority as the head of the church?”

Maybe you could ask a question that you don’t really want to hear the answer to, like “God, is the pastor at my church teaching false doctrine?” Another possible question might be “God, is the pastor of my church an idiot?” Perhaps you’re not practiced at asking God questions because you’ve only been taught to give God all your wise advice (Did you hear the sarcasm again?).

Try actually having a conversation with God where you listen to His voice and SEEK HIM rather than tell Him.

A WASTED VOTE!

Any vote you place on a ballot that doesn’t have its origin in specific conversation with God is a wasted vote for you personally. If you didn’t include God, He saw it. He also saw whose opinion was more valued by you.

Did you ignore God when He wanted to give you insight? Did you refuse God’s gentle nudges for you to seek Him in prayer? Did you forget that He is indeed sovereign over life and death (yours included)? Did you forget that He can allow you to be taken into captivity for choosing substitute “gods”?

Why would you allow your vote to be wasted in God’s sight? And please hear me, you don’t get a pass by refusing to vote. God has entrusted you with a sacred duty to seek Him. Refusing to vote is the same as voting contrary to His will. He sees it!

If you break the covenant oath with God to seek Him and obey Him, He can and likely will allow you to feel the weight of the broken covenant.

Warning:
“But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands, and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant, then I will do this to you: I will bring on you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and sap your strength. You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it. I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you. If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over.” (Leviticus 26:14-18 NIV)

Intent For Intimacy

This may come across a little sexy, but the hope is to create a visual that sticks in your mind.

When a husband sees his wife show up for bedtime with a skimpy nightie, he might assume that a romantic evening follows. There is an indication of intent. (Especially if she’s bothered to shave her legs and to smell like flowers.)

Well, believe it or not, God is looking at the intent inside your heart when you approach Him in prayer. He’s looking to see if you want to know Him. Are you coming to Him in prayer simply to unburden your worries or are you wanting His will in every situation? Are you wanting intimacy of the heart with God? That is spiritual romance to God. He wants you, yes, to be real and discuss your worries with Him but also to listen to Him express His heart to you. And while God appreciates your words of thankfulness, more than that He wants you to take time to listen to Him.

Is your heart first set on connection with God’s heart? Do you come to Him to discuss ALL things that you may have done wrong or less pleasing to Him? Have your personal sins caused a distance between Him and you? If so, He wants to see a humble heart intent on restoring the relationship. Does He see a sincere heart that wants fellowship with Him or instead does He see you trying to use Him for a purpose? Listen, He knows if you’re looking for lottery numbers versus obedient steps of faith. He knows if you’re only including Him to accomplish a mission of your own.

Are you seeking Him for direction with a heart INTENT on obedience? God sees clearly right to your motives. You cannot manipulate Him or seduce Him. Your attempts to maneuver Him to your will cannot be hidden. Your heart is absolutely laid bare before Him.

What is the intent of your heart when you approach God in prayer?

Why Vote With God’s Heart?

What’s happening in our local, state, and federal government is VERY important to God. God is not looking simply at outcomes based on a one-day voting count. God is looking at the heart of the nation.

Are we a nation that seeks God? Are we a people who sincerely ask God who to vote for? Do we trust that God has strategically planned each destiny? God wants to prosper a nation who seeks His heart, but He has promised to abandon people who ignore Him.

What does God see when He looks at you? Does He see someone who puts energy into assessing the leadership qualities of our city, county, state, and federal government candidates or does He see a lazy, uninterested person who is willing for the wrong people to be in seats of leadership? (When I say “assessing” in that question, I’m primarily including a sincere conversation with God where you identify who He specifically wants in each representative seat.)

Don’t choose a candidate for their outward appearance. Allow God to choose the person that He has intentionally positioned for the path ahead. God has woven into His chosen person what is needed to advance His provision and protection. The wrong person elected will produce what we deserve for refusing to seek God.

We cannot ever choose someone just because they say they are a Christian. There are many so-called Christians that will be judged harshly by God for their vanity, greed, and schemes against mankind. We should all want leaders who hear God’s voice and follow Him. Without that, we will fail and deservedly so.

Do you hear God’s voice in prayer?

Parasites?

Have any of the rest of you had your newsfeed full of the ads for products to remove parasites? That’s just nasty stuff to think about. I don’t want to consider that there might be worms crawling around in me. What the heck? I must have paused too long on an ad for weight loss and then AI decided that it was going to give me … options. Yuck!

I was discussing my disgust with God. (Probably giving Him an ear-full about what was He thinking with creating gut bacteria or allowing parasites to live in our bodies.) And without words, He led my thoughts directly to the church. Well, that’s just as nasty to think about. Parasites sitting in the church pews and standing in pulpits crawling around parading themselves as good bacteria.

The whole conversation makes me sick to my stomach. I wish there was a pill to give out to turn those parasites into usefulness. Ha ha. That’s when God spoke up. He said “Girlfriend, why don’t you teach them to hear my voice so that they can know true doctrine and leave the parasite cleansing up to me?” “Ok, God but could you please stop the gross ads from coming up in my newsfeed?” God replied, “No, it’s part of the process evidently.”

Crazy Prayer!

It’s not crazy for a Christian to hear God’s voice in prayer. It’s not crazy for an anointed Christian to speak in tongues or to allow God to speak through them.

What is crazy is for a Christian to think that the Creator God is stuck in the pages of a printed book or manuscript unable to interpret the Scriptures clearly for you.

You’re not ignoring God because you think that He can’t speak. You’re ignoring God so that you can be your own god. You know it … and God knows it!

Extinguish Your Giftings?

Over the years that I have not belonged to a church family (at a church building), I have asked the Lord many times to provide a place that I could have as a church home. Oh, He sends me, but every time He shows me that I’m not welcome.

This morning, the first words I heard from the Lord were “they want to extinguish your gifts”. That fired me up before my head was off the pillow. The Lord went on to say that not one of the local churches could handle having me in their congregation without wanting to strip the titles from me that God has given me. The problem is that they can’t “compete” with the anointing that God has entrusted me with. They would want to take away the title “prophet” because they don’t hear God and would want to pretend that I don’t either. God said that they would not permit me to be God’s apostle in their presence because that would make me more worthy than their pastors at discussing doctrine. Then the devil would lose all the ground that he has managed to take. The devil will fight for that through any vessel that is not fully submitted to God (and there are plenty of them in the churches).

So I asked God, “Does that mean that I won’t ever get to have a church home?” The Lord answered “maybe”.

Then the question came to my mind as though it had been deliberately stationed there. “Why would I want to be part of a church family that would want to extinguish my giftings and denounce my relationship with God?” I wouldn’t!

So, in all these years that I have been searching for a church home, God was using that search to show me the mess that the church has become. Most of the churches would deny my rights in the Kingdom of God just because I’m a female. For sure, those churches wouldn’t accept that I’m God’s prophet or apostle because they believe that a woman must be silent … and God doesn’t anoint apostles or prophets to be silent. I guess that I must conclude that I’m just not welcome and be good with that.

God is willing for me to be a spectator of the church, but my first allegiance must always be to doing His will. That can’t happen simultaneously with being silent in the church.

Standing Against The Religious Pharisees!

It is not an easy task to stand up for true doctrine against a collective group of religious Pharisees. Jesus did it and they crucified Him.

This morning, instead of going to a church building, God wanted to lead me through the Bible to remind me of the times that He sent prophets and disciples to fight against a religious “culture”.

When I sat down at the table (at Dunkin Donuts), my Bible opened to the book of the prophet Isaiah. My eyes locked in on a passage, and I read it.

“Woe to those who go to great depths
to hide their plans from the Lord,
who do their work in darkness and think,
‘Who sees us? Who will know?’
You turn things upside down,
as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!
Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,
‘You did not make me’?
Can the pot say to the potter,
‘You know nothing’?” (Isaiah 29:15-16 NIV)

After reading in Isaiah, the Lord, said “turn the pages”. Which I did, measured section by measured section until I arrived at the book of Acts. When I got to the place that God wanted to talk about, He said, “stop there, and turn one single page.” So, I did. My eyes locked on to a passage in Acts 10 about Cornelius (a Gentile) having a vision, followed by Peter’s vision that included words from the Lord.

“Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” (Acts 10:15 NIV)

What the Lord pointed out to me was that both of those men were hearing God direct them away from a religious protocol. Peter points out that it was against the law of the Jews to associate with a Gentile, yet he went to the home of a Gentile because the Lord told him to. In the vision, Peter was told to eat unclean or impure food.

This text reminds me of when the prophet Ezekiel was told to cook his food in an “unclean” manner to symbolize God’s justice against Jerusalem (ref. Ezekiel 4:14). Both Ezekiel and Peter had such ingrained ideas of the laws of clean and unclean that they could not immediately obey God when this subject was introduced to them.

Do you remember the words about this from Jesus recorded in Matthew 15?

“Jesus called the crowd to him and said, ‘Listen and understand. What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.’ Then the disciples came to him and asked, ‘Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?’ He replied, ‘Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.’ Peter said, ‘Explain the parable to us.’ ‘Are you still so dull?’ Jesus asked them. ‘Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.” (Matthew 15:10-20 NIV)

Peter had already personally heard those words from the Lord before receiving the vision that emphasized the message “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” (Acts 10:15 NIV)

Notice that God called the Pharisees “blind guides”? They were blind because they did not SEE the vision that God gave to Peter.

Let’s look at another passage on this same subject, where God calls the religious Pharisees “hypocritical liars”.

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.” (1 Timothy 4:1-5 NIV)

You know that Paul, who was formerly a religious Pharisee, was told to accept the Gentile believers — the uncircumcised! (How dare God shake things up that way!)

“No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.” (Romans 2:29 NIV)

Just some things to think about when the religious Pharisees are refusing to accept God’s anointed women to lead in the church. Oh no, here I am, refusing to be silent and teaching and preaching without their permission. “God told me to” is all that I can say about that!

“Watch your life and doctrine closely” (1 Timothy 4:16 NIV)

Advertised As Normal?

Did you ever notice that some people cannot stop speaking about the Lord? He’s in every conversation of substance. Even their social media accounts include Him. They just can’t separate themselves from awareness of God in their lives.

Why can’t they just be normal and post photos of their vacations, selfies with their kids or grandkids, pictures of their favorite foods at local restaurants, or even pics with their church friends? There’s nothing wrong with any of those things, right?

What does God see when He looks at the “normal” people? Does He see the advertised version that doesn’t include Him?

“But if I say, ‘I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,’ his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.” (Jeremiah 20:9 NIV)

As one who has been walking with the Spirit for decades, I know that there is no way to separate my Kingdom walk from my physical walk (before going to Heaven). I’m already a Kingdom inhabitant. God is always going to be leading me with His voice. So, I’m going to mention Him all the time. He is going to be included in every aspect of my life. Yes, that means that I can’t be “normal” or at least not to the crowd that doesn’t also walk with the Spirit.

Listen, the devil can quote Scriptures and twist them into any narrative he chooses. The devil is a liar, and he’s good at it. The serpent has had many years of honing his craft of manipulation.

When God anoints a Kingdom champion, they are ALWAYS passionate. God doesn’t anoint people to be silent. The devil would want that, but not God. God wants a voice of truth to speak boldly. If God ever told me to be silent, I would be truly concerned. Instead, He wakes me up in the early morning hours with a word from Him on my tongue. And like the Prophet Jeremiah, it’s like a fire in my bones until it is delivered.

So, there is no way that I could believe that God would not similarly anoint all Kingdom women to be passionately vocal about truth. Who could walk with the Spirit and be silent? When I’m in the Spirit, I’m thoroughly disgusted with the women who think it is their God-given command to be silent in the church while parading themselves around as good-little Christians. Hey, but don’t believe me … Ask God yourselves!

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9 NIV)

Peace To Lead?

I firmly believe that God wants people who hear His voice to lead this nation. In studying about the prophets of old, God always sent prophets to a rebellious nation who refused to listen to God and follow Him. They always brought a message of warning, caution, and rebuke to stubborn and foolish people.

When God called me as His prophet, the foremost message was to teach people to learn to hear God’s voice in prayer. That’s paramount because you cannot obey God without hearing His voice. It’s impossible to follow Him in a specific or narrow path without hearing Him lead you. Yes, you can guess at interpreting Scriptures or seeing signposts along the way, but that’s what you’re doing, you’re guessing. (Like nearly every pastor in our pulpits today.) Who wants a best-guess allegiance? As for me, I want to be certain of God’s leading before stepping out. If I’m going to risk everything, it’s not going to be done foolishly. I want to hear God’s specific instructions and know His heart.

So I’m going to ask each reader a few questions to ponder about your own spiritual walk with God.

1) How good are your listening skills?

2) How have you included God in making decisions?

3) Do you WANT to hear God’s voice?

4) How many times have you knowingly heard God’s voice or felt His presence?

5) What are you afraid of losing by submitting to God?

6) Have you made an oath to God to follow Him? And how are you doing with that oath?

7) Can you describe what it feels like to be at peace with God?
